Doc Wilson Trophy  Yachtswoman of the Year 

John M. "Doc" Wilson Memorial Trophy Yachtswoman of the Year.

Any woman from Hawaii is eligible; anyone may submit a nomination; and there may be more than one nominee from a club. Past recipients review the submissions and vote on the nominees. The presentation will be at the Hawaii Yacht Racing Association Awards Banquet.

This trophy is dedicated to honor women who consistently participate in sailing: racing at any level, instruction, race committee, or volunteer support. This is considered a lifetime achievement award and will be awarded only once to any individual.

There are three major areas to consider when nominating:

1. Participation in Hawaii’s sailing community as a whole; not just in one club’s activities.

2. Longevity of participation; not just one accomplishment, unless that achievement is very noteworthy. 

3. Actively supporting women in sailing; not only participating, but contributing.

• 2012 Dee Darby, Driving force in Hawaii Sailing Foundation. As a boat owner she trained , developed crew and won many local regattas. HYRA Commodore, junior sailing supporter, promoter of Hawaii's national women's sailing teams.

• 2013 Kai Andrade, Devotes herself to HYSA, organizing, giving more focus, and better exposure to Junior Sailing in Hawaii. 

• 2014 Elise Leroux, promotes skiff sailing, represents Hawaii in national women's events as skipper, an active racer, and Race Management Volunteer.

• 2015 Katie Cruise, sailor, racer, wahine racing organizer, Race Management Volunteer, Junior sailing promoter.

• 2016 Nancy Goode; sailor, instructor, wahine sailing organizer Race Management Volunteer, VicMaui volunteer

• 2017 Cathy Pratt, Boat owner, racer, cruiser, race committee Volunteer of the Year for Transpac 2017, Pacific Cup Volunteer.
